Mazhai is located in Shanhaiguan Great Wall of China. It is the only road for entering and leaving Great Wall of China, so it was a place contested by all strategists. It appeared the end of the Ming Dynasty.
At the end of the Ming Dynasty, Li Zicheng head the troops to enter Juyongguan Great Wall of China and swept into Beijing. The last Ming Chongzen Emperor hanged himself on a tree in Jingshan Park after a group of peasants led by Li Zicheng successfully entered Beijing. Li Zicheng became into emperor later. Li Zicheng wanted Wu Sangui to surrender to him.
