In 1998, the Temple of Heaven was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.The Temple of Heaven is a tourist attraction in Beijing. It is located in southeastern of Beijing. It was the place where the Ming and Qing Dynasties’ emperors worshipped heaven or prayed for good bumper.The main building of the temple is Qiniandian. It has a circumference of 6369 meters with the wall being 6 meters high. The 4 pillars along the inner circle represent four seasons, namely, spring, summer, autumn and winter; the 12 pillars along the middle circle represent the 12 months; the 12 pillars along the outer circle represent the 12 divisions of the day and night or the 24 hours period used in ancient China.
