Dali is the cancient capital of both the Bai and Nanzhao, which flourished in the area during the 8th and 9th centuries, and the Kingdom of Dali, which reigned from 937-1253. It is member of the first group of the outstanding tourist cities of China.Dali is famous for many types of marble, which are used primarily in construction and for decorative objects. Dali is so famous for the stone that the name of marble in Chinese is literally Dali Stone.The third-month Fair, a traditional festival of the Bai ethnic group in Dali, dates back 1300 years to the Tang Dynasty.
